Conference
We organise a conference on Geometric Group Theory, Arithmetic Geometry and Analysis of PDEs in July 2025.
For details, look at the Website of the conference.
Our regular Meetings
We hold monthly meetings during the semester. These gatherings provide a relaxed atmosphere for networking, discussing mathematics, and sharing ideas. Each meeting features a different activity, such as:
- Get to know each other: Meet other participants in small groups.
- Tell me your math story: Interviews with women in mathematics, both within and outside academia.
- How to ... sessions: Practical advice on topics such as getting a PhD, explaining math clearly, developing communication skills, achieving a work-life balance, becoming a tutor, giving talks, conducting research, studying abroad, and more.
- Workshops: Learn about the gender gap in mathematics and the challenges related to diversity and inclusivity.
Each meeting concludes with a purely social time where we all have dinner together.
We encourage you to share your ideas with us! You can suggest possible math topics, guest speakers, workshops, and social activities through this link.
We look forward to receiving many ideas from you, so we can plan our future meetings according to your preferences!
Next Meeting: April 28th, 18:00-20:00, M101

Workshop II: "Lights, Camera, Action - Enjoy the Audience"
We continue the workshop with Claudia Agar on how to get better at public speaking:
Abstract
The emphasis of this workshop is the voice.
Warming up your instrument, producing a warm sound, speaking clearly and maintaining a confident and strong voice in difficult situations using breathing techniques.
Enjoy your own sound!
Who is Claudia Agar?
Claudia has been on stage since she was eight years old. Her path took her to Berlin where she studied at the University of Arts, and a greatly successful career, performing Europewide on the grandest musical theatre stages followed. She always wanted to help others improve their skills and since studying coaching she has been working for the last ten years as a trainer and coach.
Previous Meetings:

October 30th:
Let's get to know each other!
We started the semester with an informal meeting dedicated to getting to know each other. At the beginning we introduced the group and talked about our plans for the upcoming semester. Then we came together in small groups to talk about math and personal stories while eating pizza.

November 28th:
Tell me your math story!
For the second edition of our math panel we invited Luise Blank (UR), Veronika Wanner-Seidl (Hochshule Landshut, previously Dallmeier) and Maximiliane Weishäupl (PhD student in Cryptography at UR). They talked about their job and shared their experiences as women in mathematics.

December 18th:
Meeting at the Christkindlmarkt
We met at the Christkindlmarkt and drank Glühwein and Kinderpunsch together.
It was a great opportunity to chat and to get in the Christmas mood.

January 30th:
Workshop: "Lights, Camera, Action - Enjoy the Audience"
A presentation is a performance and you need to captivate your audience as any good actor must. Your body is your buddy, so learn how to use it. This was the main content of Claudia Agar's first workshop on body language and dealing with difficult situations on stage.

April 22nd:
Let's get to know each other!
At our first meeting, we got to know each other better by sharing our math interests and personal stories over dinner.
The program included a group presentation, introductions, and a shared meal, all in an engaging and inviting atmosphere.

May 27th:
Tell me your math story!
At our second meeting, we hosted a panel with three women mathematicians —Clara Löh, Kerstin Blomenhofer, and Birgit Sommer— who shared their career experiences in mathematics.
Attendees had the chance to ask questions about life after studies and stayed for dinner afterwards.

July 6th:
Social Hike to Walhalla
We enjoyed a short hike to the Walhalla, where we shared a picnic and got to know each other in an informal setting.
Everyone brought their own food, making for an enjoyable and relaxed meeting.

July 11th:
Gender, diversity and inclusive teaching
We ended the first semester of Women in Mathematics with a workshop led by Dr. Birgit Bockschweiger on gender, diversity, and inclusive teaching. Following the interesting session, participants stayed for dinner.
